Update Two

Update Two:

There are potential SPOILERS in this post through the first part of Ambrette Town.

Having gotten only one badge before losing a friend, I decided to go into training overdrive.  Before I knew it I'd built quite a strong army, and now I have a few Pokémon to spare.  Im still only sitting on one badge, but I'm feeling pretty good about the challenge so far.  EXP Share is a life-saver in this game.  Not much else to report this time around, so I'll leave you with the stats below!

There are potential SPOILERS in this post through the first part of Lumiose City.

Having practically no idea what to expect from the new Pokémon X/Y games, I'm diving in headfirst with a Nuzlocke challenge.  However, since I also want to "Catch 'Em All," this will be a semi-modified Nuzlocke.  Same rules still apply: can only use the first encounter from each area and once theyre dead they are dead.  But I will continue to catch all Pokemon and won't release the dead ones.  This way I can still claim victory (or most likely loss) over the Nuzlocke challenge and also continue on that everlong quest to catch them all.

Out of the gate I botched my first catchable Pokémon, a Pidgey on Route 2.  Though I followed up with a Scatterbug in the forest, starting with grass and bug wasn't exactly a great way to start.  Moved on to get a Bidoof (damnit) but blew my shot at a Farfetch'd when I ran out of pokeballs.  Grabbed a Flabebe then trained until I felt ready to take on the gym.  It was surprisingly easy, even without a fire or flying type.

Made my way to Lumiose City, where I am currently, when my first casualty of war fell dead.  I was fighting Professor Sycamore with Charlotte (Flabebe) but his Bulbasaur was too strong, so I swapped out for Frank (Bidoof).  I decided it was smart to use Rollout, but on the first turn I got Leech Seeded.  For a level 10 Bulbasaur, he was pretty strong, and his Leech Seed took out 1/8th of my HP each turn, plus his regular damage.  I prayed for Frank to miss, but he didn't, and Bulbasaur barely survived while Frank fell.  Ironic, considering the Nuzlocke comic.  I was not pleased.

However, I took a Squirtle as a consolation prize, so now at least my team won't get totally wrecked by a fire Pokémon.  Hopefully in the next update I'll have better news (no more deaths! no more missed opportunities!)
